En1995, cuando Endesa anunció la construcción de Ralco junto a su hermana Berta, encabezaron el primer movimiento popular indígena y conflicto socioambiental en defensa del medio ambiente en Chile. Consecuencia de lo cual Endesa y el gobierno de Eduardo Frei, afrontaron la paralización de la construcción del mega proyecto hidroeléctrico en dos ocasiones; agosto 1997 - enero1998 y septiembre 1998 - enero 1999. Falleció el 24 de diciembre de 2013.
